Privacy Policy (English)

Welcome to FlickMatch. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

1. Data We Collect

• Sign-in information: When you use "Sign in with Apple", we receive your user ID and your name — only if you choose to share it. We never receive your password.
• Your activity in the app: your ratings of movies and series, your "Watch later" list, and the list of users you follow.
• Usage and crash data: We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics from Google to understand how the app is used (such as the screens you open, session length, device type, and operating system and app version) and to fix crashes. This data is tied to a random, app-specific identifier on your device, not to your name, and we do not use it for advertising.
• Profile photo: If you choose to upload a photo to your profile, we store only the photo you choose.
• Your conversations with Flick: If you use the "What's your mood tonight?" assistant, we store your messages, its replies, and the notes it learns about your taste. Details in Section 5.
• Ad measurement data: When you install and open the app, we learn which ad or source brought you to the app. Details in Section 4.

Your country and app language: The app determines your country from your IP address, through our server on flickmatch.app, solely to show which streaming services carry each movie or series in your country. We do not store the IP address. We also save the app language you choose (Arabic or English) on your profile, so that notifications reach you in that language.

We do not collect: your precise location, your contacts, your photo library (other than the photo you choose for your profile), or any biometric data.

2. How We Use Data

• To provide personalized recommendations based on your ratings.
• To show the users who share your taste (the "Discover" feature).
• To save your watchlist and sync it between app sessions.
• So that the Flick assistant can suggest movies and series based on your request and your taste.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share your ratings, your lists, or any content you add with any advertiser. The only sharing for advertising purposes is the install measurement described in Section 4.

3. Where Data Is Stored

We store your account, ratings and lists — and your conversation with Flick if you are signed in — in Google Cloud Firestore (Dammam region, Saudi Arabia). The conversation is also saved on your device. Profile photos are stored in Google Cloud Storage (United States), and usage and crash data are processed by Google on its servers. Data is transferred over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS).

4. Ad Measurement (AppsFlyer)

We use AppsFlyer to learn which ad or source led to each install, so we know which of our ads work. AppsFlyer receives technical data about your device and the app install: device type, operating system, IP address, install and open times, and the sign-up event if you sign in. It shares the measurement result with the ad platform the install came from (such as X).

Advertising identifier (IDFA): We read it only if you accept the "Allow Tracking" prompt that your iPhone shows. You can decline, or change your mind at any time, in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you decline, measurement continues in aggregate through Apple's system (SKAdNetwork) without an identifier specific to your device.

5. The Flick Assistant (Anthropic)

The "What's your mood tonight?" assistant runs on an AI model from Anthropic. We send it nothing until you agree inside the app the first time you open it. When you send a message, we send Anthropic: your message and the latest messages in the conversation, the notes Flick has learned about your taste, and the names of the movies and series you have rated or added to "Watch later". We do not send your name or your email.

Anthropic processes this data only to generate the reply, and does not use it to train its models. Requests pass through our servers on Google Cloud (United States), and we store only your daily message count, for the usage limit. You can view and delete Flick's notes about your taste, or delete the entire conversation, from the ⋯ menu on the chat page. Suggestions come from AI and may be wrong.

6. Sharing With Your Friends

When you share a list, a movie, the assistant's suggestions, or an invite, we create a short link on flickmatch.app. Anyone who has the link can open its page and see the content you shared: the list's name and its movies, or the movie and the note you wrote, together with your name or your username. Private lists cannot be shared by link; and if you make a public list private, its link stops working. Along with the link we store the number of times it has been opened, so we know what works.

7. Movie and Series Data

Movie information, posters, trailers, and availability information on streaming services are provided by TMDB and JustWatch. FlickMatch is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

8. Your Choices and Rights

• Sign out: via "Settings → Sign out".
• Delete your account: via "Settings → Delete account". All your data (account, ratings, following list, watchlist, Flick conversation) will be deleted from our servers permanently and immediately.
• You can also manage the "Sign in with Apple" permission from iPhone Settings → [your name] → Sign in with Apple.

9. Children

FlickMatch is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Updates

We may update this policy. We will notify you of important updates inside the app, and the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy remains your reference.
